What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our film may only be distributed by small independent companies, as it does not have a large budget like many large blockbuster companies use, distributors such as Universal pictures, Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures and Fox Film Corporation are least likely to bother distributing our film.
Small local independent film companies may consider distributing our film such as Vertigo Films as it distributes low budget abnormal films that challenge the traditional film genres.

Evaluation Question Four : Who Would Be The Audience For Your Media Product?
The target audience for our Film opening would be members of the middle class younger populattion. I believe our film relates to them because its exciting and they would enjoy watching it. It has a dark feeling to it which would attract this particular group to the piece. Younger poeple tend to enjoy horror films more, so I decided they would be the audience. People who would view our film would have to be in the aficionado catergory as the film is a low budget independant film, the film itself cost us no money as we used family locations and friendly actors and actresses. I wouldnt choose the film to be placed in the movie buff catergory as that wouldnt appeal to as many people. If the film was a foreign language, even though speech is rarely used in the opening, many mainstream or mainstream plus viewers wouldnt enjoy the film as much.

Editing 5 - Finished
With the help of James I have corrected the scalling of the titles to make them appear visable on screen, James gave me feedback on the length of the piece of titling mentioning that it was too long, once rendered I then showed him the piece and he changed his mind and said it was effective for the thriller we have made as the film is very slow paced and creepy with an awkward feel about the final scene.
The film itself is now basically finished, the copyright free song is still in question but apart from that the film is done. Currently its full length is 2:03 minutes long but this may change due to the end songs replacement as I would like to have the song finished with an impact just like our current song has.

Editing 5 - Titles
I have created three dfferent title pages which feature different effects. the first two feature gaussian blur which makes the words appear eerier and more thrilling.
the last title sequence is the film name title which involves the name of the film opening slowly rotating and fading to black. At this current time the film name sequence is covered by the ending of our Tiny Tim piece but when we replace it, I hope to use some scary child laugh or a baby screaming, indicating the begining of the thrilling story.

Editing 4 - Search for the Copyright free replacement continues
We are still debating whether or not to keep the Tiny Tim song in our final section of the opening because the song itself is not copyright free and we cant use it unless it is according to the brief. We have used up a lot of valuable production lesson time searching for a replacing song or soundtrack that will work as effectively and projects the right images towards the viewers of our final piece.

Editing - 3
We originally had the idea of playing Tiny Tim - Tip Toe Through The Tulips over the final scene but that was prohibited as it wasnt copyright free music, this hinded our progress as we now need to find some appropriate copyright free backing track that feeds an eerie vibe to the viewer.
While searching for the copyright free track we found an eerie melody that doesnt really go well with the final scene but we have used it on our company ident and as a backing track to the flashback.
This works well as it fades away so its only just audible while the flashback voices are being heard.

The news reports that we have recorded arent that appropriate to the storyline of the film, so if there is a chance to film more footage when the rest of the editing is complete we will refilm the news.
The news report currently in use has been cut so that when the Man travels round the house the sound will transition so that it is less audible making it sound like it is still playing from the living room where the Man began his journey. Also when the Man enters the bedroom the news instantly stops when the man shuts the door adding tension to the sequence.

Editing
Using Adobe Premiere Pro I have inserted the video clips into one sequence to start peicing together the film. Then I posted them in order with the company ident at the head of the sequence and began to properly edit, we decided to change the opacity on some of the footage so that it fades out and into shot to add a more tension building image.
At the end of our day of filming we thought about the possibility of having news playing over the top while the Man walks through the house, this provides the viewer with something to listen to while watching as without sound the footage would be quite dull, so we filmed a couple minutes of news programmes so that we could pick out any appropriate news reports.

Filming
We started filming on the 23rd of January and got multiple versions of the footage we wanted. The filming started at 7 pm and finished at around 9pm with all the neccessary clips that were required.
In the returning lesson we assessed the footage and deleted any extras or clips with mishaps.
The actors used were:
Jordans brother as the Boy in flashback
Jordans mother as the Mum in flashback
Jordans dad as the Man
Jordans Nan as the Old lady
They were all quite intregied with the filming and performed well to create interesting footage to edit.

Film Name Ideas
It took us a very long time to think of possible film names as it has to be appealing to the target audience. It is also important to use a title that is related to the genre of our film, and what happens in the film.
Mothers Boy
My Mother and I
Family Re-union
Take Care
Homewrecker
The Asylum
We decided to use the film title 'My Mother and I' as it was very original and had not been used before. It related to our use of characters, the Mother and her Son, and also to our genre slightly with a sort of chilling nature.

Film Synopsis
Beginning:
The film starts with a flashback set in the mid 1980's. It is of a boy and his mother playing a harmless game of monopoly where the mother says to her child "are you going to look after me when im older?" but the child does not respond. The time period then changes back to the present day where we visit the exact location that was in the flashback. The board game is still on the table and the boy (now a man) is sitting in an armchair watching the news. The mother is nowhere to be seen. The man checks his watch and immediately leaves the room. He walks up the stairs and into the far bedroom on the right hand side. He shuts the door and turns the light on. His mother is lying in the bed, motionless. He picks up a hairbrush and begins to comb her hair gently. (music begins to play).
Middle:
Flashback into the boys childhood years, the boy being bullied at school with no friends to turn to and no teacher that is trustworthy. He returns home looking a mess with tears streaming down his face. The only person he could rely on was his mother, she always cheered him up. He never knew his father so he had always been a mummies boy. After numerous days of torture, the mother decided to sit him down and tell him that needs to defend himself in life.
The following morning while going through the usual routine of being bullied, the boy picked himself up and swung at the bully, sending him to the floor. He ran home in excitement to find his mother laying face down in the kitchen dead. He dramatically shakes her body while crying then carrys her up to her bed shouting "I will take care of you".
Skips through the years showing short clips of various activities the man is doing while looking after the body. showing him becoming wierder and wierder in each year.
End:
On one particular day the mans father returns home for the first time in 40 years. He tries to explain to his son why he didnt support him throughout his life. However, the son is having none of it and blames the father for the unhappiness of his mother and ultimately, her death. He attacks his father with a sharp drill end and stabs him multiple times in his chest. The man then puts the body on the bed next to his mother before leaving the room. He then returns shortly after with a handgun. He sits on the bed inbetween his mother and father and utters the words "now we're finally all together". He puts the gun to his head and pulls the trigger without hesitation. There is a cold silenece before the theme music begins to signal the ending of the film.

Story Board
I created a rough storyboard showing the location of characters, props and all possible shots.
The first scene - Living room - (Flash back) with the young boy and mother playing monopoly around the table. Shots include a medium shot of the surrounding sofa's and monopoly board and packaging - then close up of mother talking to son - moving onto an extreme close up of boys face. Screen fades to black.
Second scene - Living Room but in present day with the monopoly board abandoned on the table with the pieces scattered, Man is sitting in the corner watching the news when he realises the time and proceedes out the room.
Third scene - Hall - Man walks round into view then moves up the stairs out of shot, camera switches to a side view of the man walking up the stairs and disapears from view.
Fourth scene - Upstairs landing - Man walks into view and around the banister and out of view.
camera switches to end bedroom and the man walks into view and into another bedroom.
Fifth scene - Bedroom - Man walks into darkness and closes door, man turns on lamp which brings the old woman in bed, motionless, the man then looks vacantly at the woman, picks up a hairbrush then leans forward.
Sixth scene - Bedroom - Man begins to brush womans hair, while humming theme tune.
theme tune begins to play and matches the humming. then fades to film title

Final Company Ident
After scrapping our previous idea, we brainstormed company names appropriate for a thriller/horror story.
A variety of ideas came from this, one of which was the name Poison Productions, This name stuck in my head and gave me a visual image of what the Ident should look like.
Using the name and the idea in my head I created an Ident using Photoshop and After Effects.
I used a cartoon pipette as I could not recreate a well drawn pipette myslef, then created a sickly green droplet appear using opacity transitioning. This doplet then falls through the screen as the pipette disappears from view using a motion tween.
Then the droplet lands and splatters all over the words 'Poison Productions' which the blurs out of view, then to appear inside out after a second.

Possible Media Idents - Beginning ideas
To begin with, Jordan and I thought about creating Idents relative to the thriller genre as that is what genre our film will be.
We had the idea of a house, that after a couple seconds, a lightning bolt hits the chimney and the house comes to life witth a creepy vibe.
We thought about developing the idea with some living trees in the foreground when the lightning strikes, but we scrapped the 'Monster House Productions' idea as the trees were too hard to create and the house looked too comical.
